What is the difference between ESP (Extra Sensory Perception) and Telepathy?
Q. I was just curious! And also... has anyone heard of the guy they call the "Mind Freak" Chris Angel or something like that... do you believe in what he does? What's your explanation for how he does it if you don't believe?
Asked by Lilliana - Fri Jun 1 13:29:14 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Telepathy is a type of ESP. Specifically, the communication between two persons without recourse to the senses. ESP is any perception or communication outside of normal sensory capability. And no, I have not heard of "Mind Freak".

If someone has been given an extra-sensory perception ability?
Q. And uses it for good and not to lead people astray to believe in them and not God, is that still evil? Are these gifts from God or the devil? If people used them for good and defeated evil would that make a difference in how they are perceived? God bless all
Asked by Leo - Wed Oct 8 23:32:12 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I think these are gifts from God, because obviously, we are nothing without God. I believe He gives them to certain people for good, to be used to help others. I'm also sure that would be hard, not to put your personal needs first. But if God gave you these gifts, I believe its for a higher purpose, for the greater good for all. If you use them for evil, then I believe you will be punished.

Extra-sensory Perception?
Q. Ok, this is hard to explain; but sometimes ill know that im receiving a text message on my cellphone before the ringer goes off. Ill actually pull my phone out of my pocket and have it in my hand when the ringer starts. This happens around 40% of every time i receive a text message or a phone call. Could this be extra-sensory perception? Or could radio waves be going through my head to my phone and maybe im noticing them? Can anyone help explain this strange phenomenon? Dear Guy with unpronauncable name: My phone doesn't light up when its receiving a text or a call, but it does after it rings. I don't think im seeing it out of the corner of my eye, but an interesting thought. And i partially agree with you on confirmation bias; however,… [cont.]

A. There are plenty of potential explanations, none of which involve ESP, which has never, ever been able to stand up to real scientific scrutiny. It's also unlikely that you're noticing radio waves. First of all, the human body is almost completely transparent to radio waves. There's just nothing in a human body that can pick up radio waves like an antenna. Second, even if you could detect radio waves, there are radio waves traveling to every other cell phone for miles around, so you should be getting lots of "false alerts" as you also pick up everyone else's radio waves. I think the most likely explanation is that your phone is going through some processes between the time it receives the incoming message or call and the time when it… [cont.]

A. ESP (extrasensory perception) ESP is most commonly called the "sixth sense." It is sensory information that an individual receives which comes beyond the ordinary five senses sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. It can provide the individual with information of the present, past, and future; as it seems to originate in a second or alternate reality.

A. I wonder if there aren't many capabilities, lying dormant in most of us, hidden in the 90% of the brain that we don't use. Seems like a lot of wasted space. Every once in awhile someone comes along who for some unknown can do something the rest of us cannot (charlatans excluded, of course).

A. Here are some examples of ESP: 1. You're walking down the street and you just know that when you turn the corner, you're going to see your friend, Robin - and you turn the corner, and Robin is there. You had no reason to expect Robin to be there, so that's ESP. 2. Someone you love dies suddenly. You know, you just feel it without being told. 3. The phone rings and you know before you answer it who is calling - and you weren't expecting the call. 4. You dream that something will happen, and then it does.

Do you believe in Extra Sensory Perception (ESP)?
Q. People claim to be psychic or to have a 6th sense. Do you believe that it is true, or do you believe it to be all a hoax. I am leaning towards that it is true, but I wan't to know what you think.
Asked by Nikolaus - Wed Jul 9 19:20:51 2008 - - 16 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Being active in research on the matter for the past couple of decades, I would have to be on the side of it being true. Aside from the extreme number of charlatans who defraud people out of their money, the predominant argument against it is the inability to "prove" its existence. One could just as well ask for proof of its non-existence. For those who have have had some of the experiences, they are believers irregardless of what happens in a lab. Many of today's facts were in the past also considered not to be true until they were "proved". I have spent over 10 years researching, developing, testing and working on a project that can be used to overcome certain variables that make the testing of the individuals ability and application… [cont.]

Are extra-sensory perception and telepathy well-documented sciences?
Q. Recently I have had a year of experiences where I've come to believe that there are many people with this ability. it's hard to document it to a point of scientific validity but hang with me here ... On a random night, a friend and I decided to grab a deck of cards from this tea shop and place cards face down. A trial was done to see if he could find the ace, then another, and another... each time 6 - 20 cards were placed face down and he was able to guess the correct one. Writing it off to coincidence and luck, we decided to take it further. I took 13 cards (ace to king) ... all spades, shuffled them randomly and presented them to him one by one face down... in each of the times, he took a good minute before telling me what he thought… [cont.]

A. Don't forget the dogs that bark and howl and go crazy, and then it's later found that there were low movement earthquakes, or even that they knew hours before large ones hit. Considering their senses are different from our, esp is definitly possible... in my opinion, anyway.

A. I have experienced telepathy with three separate people in my 49 years. In two cases they were people I was close to, but they heard unspoken thoughts, such as "I want the salt" before I could ask them to pass it, or, "I wish he'd put his hand behind my heart". and he did. (I'm trying to keep this short.) This happened so many times with both that I stopped doubting it. The third person was an acquaintance, someone I did not know well, and he correctly told me what I had been thinking about on six different occasions (we set them up as tests, he could not have known in advance what my random thoughts would be). I didn't have success reading him. I think we all have the ability to be telepathic, and to be clairvoyant, etc, but because our… [cont.]

Assuming extra sensory perception exists...?
Q. Do you believe one can somehow harness it, control it (call upon it,as it were), enhance it and use it for whatever purpose suits them? Are some individuals more attune to ESP or is it all just unquantifiable bird droppings. Certainly, there have been myriad studies conducted by reputable institutions on the subject(s). For it to be totally void of any validity begs the question, where's my free grant money?
Asked by angrycelt - Sun Dec 28 09:30:03 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I don't know for sure, but, I tend to think that most people who think they have ESP have trained their minds to recognize certain things that most of us would disregard. Like the guy who answered before me, those who sense they are being watched just are more aware of their surroundings, take in a larger scope of visual cognizant ability than most. They scan and do it almost imperceptively and then after a time their brain recognizes the flaw that someones eyes were on them, or a shadow shouldn't have been where it was, or a sound is out of order. Many attributes have wrongly been attributed to ESP that would be better off learned and taught.
