What extra-curricular activities that you can do in high school do good colleges like?
Q. I'm in 8th grade and I work in the library in the summer (for the past 2) and each year I get a letter from them that says that I worked -- amount of hours. What other extra curricular activities should I do to get into a better college? (In school and outside of it). Thanks!

A. There's no single extracurricular that counts more than others--unless you are good enough to get a scholarship in one of the sports they offer (female track athletes are actually a little in demand). What counts most is range. Try to get into a fair number of extracurriculars, but make sure they're not all similar. Get some sports, some arts, some academic, some social. Off-campus, you should volunteer for the charity of your choice--it may be better to go for a charity that's not religious-related unless you adhere to a particular religion and want to attend one of their colleges. If your college application lists three years of tennis team, work on the school paper, national honor society, choir, junior prom co-chair, and two years… [cont.]

How many extra calories should you eat when you are pregnant with twins?
Q. Ok, so I have heard you should eat 300 extra calories per day when you are pregnant. Does this mean you should eat 600 calories per day when you are pregnant with twins? 900 with triplets? Just wondering...I am 36 weeks pregnant with one baby but I don't really eat any more than I did before I was pregnant.

A. I don't count calories so I don't even know if I'm getting the extra 300, (lol, I'm pretty sure I am.) Listen to your body. If you're hungry, eat and make it healthy. Eat the whole bag of baby carrots if you can keep them down. Women have been having babies long before anyone came up with the magic calorie number. If you were just curious, sorry I don't know. Good luck with your babies! My friend has had 3 sets and I'm the godmother of the last set. They are so much fun!

Q. Can you substitute extra virgin olive oil for vegetable oil in a recipe...I am making a recipe of potato salad that uses e.v.o.o. and I don't have it, can I just use vegetable oil?

A. Yes, it won't make that much of a difference. The olive oil has a bit more flavor, while the vegetable oil has practically none. No one will know the difference. Really !!
